Two versions: basic and deep profile sole of Contact S1

Size chart

On all basic soles of Proalp Contact, it is possible to set an additional 5-millimeter sole with a deep profile. With model Contact S1 you have the option in web store to choose shoes with the sole that suits you.

A major feature of Contact shoes is the basic 2.5 mm thin sole made from vulcanized rubber, which allows maximum contact of the feet with the terrain. It is highly flexible, non-slip, and wear-resistant. When wearing Contact shoes, we don’t feel small sharp stones, and our feet embrace the surface with every step, similar to walking barefoot.

It has a 15 mm high wall around the feet, making it suitable for wearing on wet surfaces as it prevents direct contact of the upper part with the ground. It is made of very soft edgeless vulcanized rubber, so it can adapt to the width of the foot.

When wearing Contact shoes with a rough profile, the sensation of ground contact is slightly reduced, but the rough profile sole still maintains flexibility and provides excellent grip on uneven surfaces, making it suitable for hiking – for both highly demanding barefoot hikers and beginners. Everyone can adjust the length and difficulty of their hiking trips according to their abilities and ambitions.

Contact S1 with a deep profile are also highly recommended for those who are not used to walking in barefoot shoes and want footwear that provides slightly more protection to the feet than the basic thin barefoot sole. With barefoot shoes like Contact S1 and also Contact S11 with a deep profile, you will gradually transition into barefoot footwear and either continue with thinner soles or remain satisfied with these.

By taking proper care of shoes, we maintain their nice appearance, durability and resistance to various weather conditions. Experiences show that Proalp footwear can be worn everyday without it becoming moist from sweat. However, we recommend you periodically give your favourite shoes a “day off”; here are some other tips:

- When out of season, insert a crumpled absorbent paper (it can be newspaper) inside the shoe, which will retain its shape.

- Air-dry wet shoes, away from heating appliances that can dry out your shoes and therefore cause them to loose their water resistance.

- Wipe dirty shoes with a damp cloth, if needed, add a very small amount of gentle dishwashing liquid and then air dry. Do not soak Proalp shoes in water, or wash them in a washing machine.

- You can apply colourless shoe cream on smooth shoes; a regular hand cream is also adequate; apply a little cream on a cloth and spread it over the surface of the shoe. Leave it on for a while, then wipe it off and smooth it with a cloth. When applying a new cream on the shoes, test it on a less noticeable part before you apply it on the entire surface.

- All variations of non-smooth shoes can be brushed with a special-purpose brush and impregnated with a colourless spray.

How often should you clean and care for you shoes? Everyone has his own standards regarding that, we recommend you do this a few times in a season.
