COMPARISON BETWEEN TWO SOLES CONTACT:  BASIC AND DEEP PROFILE SOLE

The great feature of Contact shoes is the basic 2.5 mm thin sole made of vulcanized rubber, which allows maximum contact of the feet with the terrain. It is very flexible, non-slip, and durable. When wearing Contact shoes, we do not feel small sharp stones, and our feet embrace the surface with every step, similar to walking barefoot.

It has a 15 mm high wall around the feet, making it suitable for wearing on wet surfaces as it prevents direct contact of the upper part with the ground. It is made of very soft edgeless vulcanized rubber, so it can adapt to the width of the foot, meaning you don’t have to worry so much about every millimeter of width.

An additional 5-millimeter sole with deep profile can be set on all basic Proalp Contact soles. For model S1, both are available as standard, and in the online store, you have the option to choose shoes with the sole that suits you. Models C2, S2, and S11 come with a standard sole with a deep profile, you can also order a thinner basic sole. Models B1 and C1 are standardly made with a thin basic sole.

When you put on Contact shoes with a deep profile, the feeling of contact with the ground is slightly reduced, but the deep profile sole still maintains flexibility and provides excellent grip on uneven surfaces, it is excellent for hiking – both for very demanding barefoot hikers and beginners. Everyone will adjust the length and difficulty of their hiking trips to their abilities and ambitions.

We highly recommend low barefoot shoes with a deep profile to everyone who is not used to walking in barefoot shoes and wants footwear that provides slightly more protection for the feet than a basic thin barefoot sole. With barefoot shoes Contact S1 and also Contact S11 with a deep profile, you will gradually get used to barefoot footwear and continue with thinner soles or remain satisfied with these.
